Notes

  • Usually when I'm blocking an IP user from editing, I tick the fifth, eighth, ninth, and eleventh boxes, but leave the other boxes unticked, so that they have talk page access, and have the chance to request an unblock. I leave the last box unticked, so that if any registered users are using that IP address, they will be unaffected by the block.
  • Usually when I'm blocking a regular troll or vandal, I tick the fifth, eighth, ninth, and eleventh boxes, but leave the other boxes unticked, so that they have talk page access, and have the chance to request an unblock.
  • Usually when I'm blocking an underage user, I tick the fifth, ninth, and eleventh boxes, but leave all the other boxes unticked, in case the user has any questions or concerns about why they have been blocked for being underage.
  • Usually when I'm blocking a user with an unacceptable username, I tick the ninth and eleventh boxes, but leave all the other boxes unticked, so that the user can create another account with an appropriate username, and access their talk page in case they want to ask about how and why their username is considered inappropriate.
    • I would formerly tick the seventh box as well, but to save them the trouble of having to use another wiki to ask about their block, I subsequently decided against doing this.
  • Usually when I'm blocking a sockpuppet account, I tick the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh boxes, although I find it optional for me to tick the seventh box.
  • Usually when I'm blocking a user that has blown away all their chances, I tick the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh boxes, although I find it optional for me to tick the seventh box.
